This Elise is almost perfect, but why does it have to be so douchey?

Under $30k, 24k miles, clean title, hard and soft tops, exhaust work, rear clam hinge for easy maintenance. Everything I want. But its orange and black, with racing stripes and a big ‘ol wing.

If you need to see out the back get a license plate add on camera and remember what kind of car it is, practicality was not it’s intention.

Now.

Go buy a Mustang 5.0 or a Challenger R/t

Definitely good car choices.

I’m a little torn about the stripes and the spoiler. I personally like it when people personalize their cars a little and if they think their car is a friggen race car, sure add some race car shit. I just think the spoiler doesn’t quite look good in this use.

His garage reminds me of a guy I run by whose house is like the poor mans version of this. He’s got an STI, E21, Miata, Mazda 3s hatch, and an older 4 runner. I'm always jealous.

I just went on a drive with a Lotus group from the Wisconsin/Chicago area this past weekend. There was a green one that I thought was overdone with a much larger spoiler than that one and also massive side skirts. This orange one is much more tasteful. The Lotus will already be getting stares and attention, this little added "doucheyness" won't really tip the scales.

Two thoughts:

1) You won’t want to see out of the back of it, as the number of people who will tailgate you “to get a closer look” in cars that take 3x the distance to stop as you do will absolutely get on your nerves.

2) Go SFGiants! Those colors would be a lot more tolerable in the SF Bay Area but you had better know the score of last night’s game (well, bad example) or else it’s douche x2 :)

Maybe I am the minority, but a Lotus is built to be loud (looking) and obnoxious. That is the point of them. There is an Elise exactly like this in my town and when I see it, I see it. Then, I want it, badly.

There is also a dark green one without a spoiler and no stripes and I see it as well. I think to myself, “that is not the one I would buy”.

I am a very low=key kind of guy too. I don’t want attention or loud. But if you want this kind of a car, go big. You will love it the way it is!

A friend of mine bought Harley Davidson’s corporate airplane because it was painted in Harley colors: Orange, black, and white. He bought it based on the paintjob: he’s SF Giants nut.

He also has a matching Vespa as parking near the stadium is a pain in the ass on game days.

Kicker is the stripes. If they’re vinyl you should be golden to pull them, cut/buff, and call it a day. If they’re painted on....great excuse to repaint?

Wheels could use a factory alloy/silver finish, too, to help offset the onslaught of color.

I’m mostly wondering about reliability/maintenence costs. I DD a stripped-interior, lowered w/ stiff springs/shocks, loud exhaust 944 with no power steering around Detroit, so I’m not placing creature comforts high on the priority list.

To be honest, I do have a pretty short commute, though.
